Lausche Lodge Update - 12/17/2006 (Seventh in a series of updates)
As you are aware, the planned official opening of Lausche Lodge during the past Labor Day weekend has been delayed for a variety of reasons including construction delays. Considering that this ambitious project is being pushed forward with mostly volunteer labor, the delay in the opening of Lausche Lodge should not be viewed as a setback but as an opportunity. We have been given the opportunity to re-focus, re-dedicate, and re-evaluate our own contributions to this very worthwhile project. Please consider the thought, “Is there something that I can do to help move this project forward?”
Our new target date for the official opening of the hall is to coincide with our Opening picnic in the June. Traditionally, the Opening picnic is the first Sunday following Memorial Day. Negotiations are currently underway to invite a major musical act from Slovenia to be a part of the festivities.
Construction update: We are currently working on the electrical and lighting for the hall. The heating and cooling is nearly complete. There is some plumbing work remaining mostly with the restrooms. The carpenters still have some bracing work to complete and some catwalks to build. Drywall, painting, and flooring will be upcoming tasks in the near future. An elaborate security system has been installed with the help of Martin Jeric. Lighting and acoustical work is being spearheaded by John Perovsek.
The amazing volunteers that are making this project happen are the true unsung heroes of this project. During the week, our “retired” members help with whatever they can. On the weekends, a dozen or more members come to help and make a significant impact each and every week. May God bless these wonderful men and women!
Financially, we have received nearly $400,000 in contributions toward our goal of $550,000 from 489 members, individuals, and groups. As we near the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, we are asked to contribute to many charitable causes. Please remember to include Slovenska Pristava’s new hall construction as a beneficiary of your holiday season gift giving. We are still very much in need of donations and they can be sent to Slovenska Pristava, c/o Frank Zalar, 2886 Istra Lane, Willoughby Hills, OH 44092. Contributors of $1,000 or more toward the building fund will be permanently acknowleged on a plaque inside of the new hall.
The following is a list of donations received from May 2nd thru November 29th. We would like to thank the donors for their generosity. (Any additional pledged monies are not shown.)
