Welcome Members and Friends of Slovenska Pristava-

Dobrodošli! It is hard to believe that in a few short weeks the 50th Anniversary season of Slovenska Pristava will begin. We have come a long way through the last five decades; from a simple farm to a complex that is the gathering place for thousands throughout the course of a year. It is because of your belief, membership, and financial donations that SP has been able to grow throughout the years.

Fifty years is a milestone, it took a great deal of hard work to become the cultural center we are today and it will take much more effort to keep us moving forward. Even though hard work made Pristava what it is, it has grown because of the pleasure and good times Pristava brings us. The 2011 season is prepared to bring another year of entertainment to you and your family. Come celebrate our fiftieth anniversary with us throughout the year. Our summer season opens up May 29, 2011. Take some time to review the website; learn about future celebrations, find out about upcoming events, and view some of the photos that tell the story of Pristava.

From the beginning of this summer season you will be able to enjoy the heated waters of the new Slovenska Pristava swimming pool and slides. All is ready for another summer of fun and just waiting for you to take a “slide” into the warm waters.

Make sure to spend June 25th with us as we celebrate both the 20th anniversary of Slovenian independence along with the 50th anniversary of Slovenska Pristava. The day will be filled with festivities and a few surprises. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you do not want to miss.

Many thanks go out to the numerous individuals who sweat throughout the year to make Pristava an inviting oasis. Yearly over 75 individuals give of their “free-time” to work behind the bar, work in the kitchen, in the cevapčiči pit, care for the chapel, work at the pool, build and maintain the buildings and grounds, entertain us with upbeat music, organize the entire organization, work at the entrance gate and keep everything else running. These unsung volunteers and board members are integral in allowing
Pristava to be the place for and of everyone. HVALA LEPA/THANK YOU without you and the thousands of hours you donate to Pristava it would not exist as it does today.

As you have just read it takes many hands to make light work at Slovenska Pristava. As always we need YOUR hands to keep Pristava moving forward. Even if you can help for two hours throughout the course of this season it will make a difference. Pristava is a special part of our lives not because of one
person or one group of people, it is special because each and every member.

If you are a fan of Pristava, of Slovenian descent, but not yet a member of Pristava, please allow me to take this time to invite you to become a member. In this website you will find the application and guidelines for membership. Pristava is a special place in people’s hearts, minds, hands, and everyday
life. Why don’t you let it become a part of your life?

Not only is Pristava in need of many hands to sustain itself, but we are also in need of financial contributions. Your donations go towards the maintenance and preservation of Slovenska Pristava. Each dollar assists in maintaining the mission of Slovenska Pristava as a cultural center “ which shall serve for educational, religious, social recreational and health purposes, especially for the youth of Slovenian schools and other youth, and also for adult Americans of Slovenian descent ….” Your help now allows us to grow into the future of your families. Everything you do will and does make a difference.
